For over a decade, gospel sensation James Fortune has been bringing young people to Christ. Once he found his calling over a decade ago, the now 31-year-old used his musical ministry to encourage young people to seek happiness in the Lord, instead of in sex, drugs and material things.
Hailing from Houston, Texas, Fortune led a choir once known as Youth for Christ. But in 2000, he was inspired to change the name of this amazing group to FIYA (Free in Yahweh’s Abundance.)
“Our Father’s will is not for his children to live a defeated and broken life full of uncertainty and anxiety,” Fortune said. “Jesus said in John 10:10, 'I come that you might have life and that you might have it more abundantly.'” That is the basis of the uplifting music that Fortune makes.
Fresh off a Stellar Award nomination for Contemporary Choir of the Year, Fortune and FIYA will also be featured on the new BET show, “106 & Park Presents Generation Gospel,” premiering in February.
